Subscription functionality lost

Since I work on a specific part of LabWindows/CVI and Measurement Studio I found it very useful to subscribe to the old forums in 2 ways.

1. The daily digest (still available).
2. If certain words are found that relate to my job then send me an update immediatly (Not Available).

This means that I either have to just use the daily digest and search through all posts, or get an update for every post and look at all posts immediatly. Both of these options are not ideal because they require me to do a lot more work to get the same information. Please think about implementing word search subscriptions in the very near future, becauce only being able to subscribe to a board is very limiting (CVI has how many posts?).

Also you can not subscribe to the same board in different ways. I can see some people wanting to get immidate updates and also a daily/weekly digest for archival purposes.

The subscription architecture in the new system is significantly different from that in the previous system which makes it difficult to support some of the same features.

Keyword Subscriptions
We have requested the keyword subscription functionality, and expect that it will be added to the community early next year. In the meantime, the only workaround I can think of is to configure your subscription notification to include both the message subject and body and subscribe to a Daily Digest for a board. Then you can manually search the notification message for the keywords you are most interested in. I understand that this is not an ideal solution and assure you that this feature is high on our list of priorities.

Multiple Notification Frequency Options
It is my understanding that because of how the subscription code is written, it would be difficult for them to support the multiple notification frequency options that were supported in the previous system. A possible workaround in this scenario would be to maintain multiple user profiles where one is configured to receive digest emails and the other is the active profile that would be configured to receive instant notifications on threads you have posted to. This is a challenge because the user profile system requires that the email addresses be unique, and it is not ideal for users to maintain multiple profiles. I will request the feature again and ask them to reconsider possible implementation options to determine if this is something they could support.

Molly,

I have one more problem to post that I feel should be easily fixed and is very necessary.

If you ask for the Daily Digest to include the message as part of the email there are no direct links to specific messages. This makes is tedious to find the message once you have searched the digest and found something that you need to reply to.

I was able to modify the subscription notifications to include URLs to the messages regardless of whether you receive Subject Only or Subject and Body. This should make the notification emails more user friendly. Thanks for the feedback.
