I don't see the benefit from the E-List other than the following comments:

1.  I agree with your earlier post about setting the treshold to 50 posts to make it on the list.  After all, this forum has loosened up dramatically over the past year.  Heck.. we are now talking to each other than simply competing for stars...  (exceptions: tst & JP  😛 )

2.  Should the fossils be removed from the list?  Although people like labviewguru should be remembered..  But then, we can revisit the purpose of the list.

3.  I mostly agree with Ray (nice name).  There are people asking questions, there are people answering.  Keep it simple.

The "fossils" will never be removed from the List. At least as long as I'll manage the List. Even better, their performance, expressed as average reply rate will remain unaffected by time, thanks to the new calculation method.  I believe that this is the least we can do to be fair to those who have contributed to the exchange. Look, "fossils" are members inactive for over a year. Suppose that tst stops contributing to this forum (since he has nothing more to demonstrate here ;)). Do you think that the year after it would be fair to wipe out all his records ? 😉

The situation is different for members who never gave any reply. Or who have a reply number much smaller than their question number. But there, we have to think carefully about the meaning of Enthusiasm. The 50 replies rule, simple as it is, should be enough...

I would like everybody to express his opinion on this subject.

I agree with you chilly that the old idle members should not be removed. If they meet your criteria for membership then they should remain.

Perhaps the list format could be changed to reflect current weekly or monthly statistics. A good example of this is the Billboard top100 charts  They have different charts for various indicators. It would be nice to know who was the most active forum member this week (top 10 this week). This would show all the new rising stars and would indicate a lively form of challenge and competition. This would allow all members a chance to be Number 1 without having to post 6000 posts to get there. You see what I'm getting at? You could still have an overall best list as you do now but a currently most active list would be more fun.

Idle ! Idle ! That was the word I was searching for ! Instead of that ugly and irreverencious "fossil" ! 🙂

Didn't you notice that you can sort the list by clicking on any column header ? A second click reverse the order.

Of course you have to use ListVIEW for that, but since the last issue is Excel-free (well, there are still some lost pieces here and there...), that should not be a problem for you now 😉

Then, there is E-trend, tst companion application, which is a plotter of any List column. We'll have a look to the link you provided.

Okayy..  there's a BIG difference with someone "Idle" and a "fossil".  I agree..  we should keep idle members in the list.  The word fossil meant more of a one timer, few questions, then never to be seen again.  That's why I also mentionned that we should remember the "idle" contributors.  They are also somewhat a non-moving target to reach. 😐

Although I don't see the benefit of having 2 lists, maybe it has some significance for others.  I can respect that.  You can make statistics say pretty much anything at all, right?  I thought the original purpose of the List was to mimic the original Enthusiast List from the previous forum.  However, there's nothing wrong with having fun, right? 😐

I'm yapping too much already.. I want to pass the "Yapping Crown" to my buddy Ben..  😐

I've been called a fossil because of my age, and the music I grew up with is now called "fossil rock".  Interesting name.  I agree that the "idle" members should remain on the list.  One should not forget their contributions.  A contribution is a contribution and should never be taken away.

90 is a french department, like 75 for paris, it's not my age!
