Shane posted a reply here, including a link to an entry in the idea exchange.
Apparently, in addition to forums.ni.com, there is also ni.lithium.com, which looks exactly the same, but if I press log in, nothing happens. From an authentication point of view, there seems to be a big difference, so it is not just a different mirror of the same thing.
I wonder how Shane managed to link to the twilight zone. 😄
Is this for Europeans, for example? Is it for search engines?

I don't have a clue how Shane came across that URL. I've updated it as we should always use forums.ni.com so that everyone can log in.
My knowledge of why both sites exist is fairly minimal but my assumption has always been that it has to do with the way our authentication works between NI servers and Lithium servers. Or I could just be making that up. I know it's not for a different region or for search engines. We have search engines crawl forums.ni.com so that the correct URLs appear in the index.
Thanks,
Laura
