Ben,

Also from your profile when i click on the popular posts, Community Nugget 4/08/2007 Action Engines this thread is at 1 4 and 5 th place as your popular posts.

When i open everyone separately in a new tab, it is giving different URL's in a continuous numbering but all are same threads. Why so?

Oops oh yeah sorry misunderstood........

You are right Ben. I tried with "Darren's Weekly Nugget 09/09/2009" link which got the most number of kudos today and the same behavior is observed.

I would think that the forum is just a huge database of posts with a front end that formats the pages dynamically.

Apparently, a post can be addressed either from a global ID (URL#2) or from a board/boardID (URL#1). Same difference. 😉

To add to Altenbach's response, the newer method uses the global ID - you'll notice that your email subscriptions now all use this URL format.  I don't know the specifics, but that URL format is used more often all over the forums now.

Thanks,

Laura
