I'm really pleased to see a number of Ideas on the LabVIEW Idea Exchange being declined, even some of the most popular ideas! The comments that G-Money is adding to explain the reasons behind the decision are really helpful, and should help new ideas to be promoted that are more likely to succeed. Plus it shows the consideration that NI is giving to all of these ideas. Well done!
Now to see a few of my ideas either accepted or declined! As they say, the only thing worse than being talked about ...

Hi Greg,
I'm also happy that Grant (AKA G-Money) has taken charge of the idea exchange and is updating statuses and explanations. I will pass your thanks along to him.
Regards,
Laura

Greg,
Thanks for the kind words. It's been a long time coming but I'm happy to start responding more regularly to the LabVIEW Idea Exchange. I just moved into my new role at NI but I am trying to ramp up quickly.
Before I can respond, I have a lot (seriously....a lot) of meetings with R&D, Sales, and Marketing managers to review the ideas and our business strategy and then come up with a response that everyone signs off on. Sometimes we give the green light on the ideas for development, sometimes it is a valid idea but we want to see how the community prioritizes it compared to the others (votes), and other times the idea is unfortunately declined. Declining an idea is hard because people are so passionite about LabVIEW and how it be enhanced. A declined idea doesn't mean that something didn't come out of it. Some of the declined ideas have spawned internal discussions that could incorporate the gist of the declined idea into a much larger initiative.
This isn't a real example but let's say an idea was declined that wanted a change to navigating the LabVIEW environment a certain way. While we won't be implementing that exact idea in the next release of LabVIEW, it could spawn discussions on how to make navigating LabVIEW easier and could be rolled into a feature. While the exact idea wasn't implemented, it did start discussions based on that user feedback ("Hey...our customers want things to be better with X...We should do something about that!").
There are so many great ideas in the Idea Exchange. Keep them coming and I will continue to help be the advocate for them internally!

G Money
Can we get it so that any idea that is complete or in beta or declined do not show up in the idea exchange for the tab " Top Kudoed Ideas" this would allow for the ideas that have not been accepted or complete or declined to boil to the top. This would get more of these ideas in front of people so that they could be voted on.
Maybe there should be a tab for accepeted ideas so that the visability is still there to show us that you are implimenting our ideas.

Tim,
If you select the button on the right hand side called Top Kudoed in the Active section, then only the top "New" ideas will be viewable. This is the easiest way to find the top ideas that can still be voted on (e.g. the ones that haven't been moved to Declined or In Development). Does this help?
