Did you mean:

rating history flipped?

Looking at the congratulation thread, I know that I have given all earlier contributors 5 stars and there just was a new message by Laura that I haven't seen (and rated) yet.

However, If I look at the thread (yes I am logged in as me), I cannot rate Laura's post, but seem to be able to rate all earlier posts twice. From my understanding of the forum mechanics, I should still be able to rate Laura's post, but not all others above it

Something is backwards....

i think as for we being unable to rate Laura is because she is an admin (permission setting?? admin + blue = cannot be rated??)... she automatically get 5 stars Smiley Surprised ... as for the double rating, i think i've experienced it once too... but its only once and i forgot which post was it... and i'm unsure if Laura was in that post too...

Explanation from someone who studied this: Laura's posts are all automatically rated and can not be rated again (see her profile. She has no number of stars).
This is indeed because she's an admin. See here. Nick had the same thing.

The forum does not remember the history of stars after it's reset, which is why you can re-rate posts. See here.

You all are correct - my messages aren't rateable because I'm an administrator.  It turns out that this is an option that I can change (and I did change it).  I don't believe this was always the way the forum worked.  I certainly don't see a problem with being rated!

Thanks   Smiley Happy

Laura

Edit::  You will only be able to rate my posts starting with this one, not my previous posts.

You only addressed my second problem. 😉

The main problem reported was the fact that I apparently can rate posts that I have rated in the past. So the complementary question is "How long does the system remember that I rated a certain post and after what time does it allow me to rate it again". (... or what triggers such a memory loss)

Well, I did give a link explaining this. What it doesn't say is when the server is rebooted, but I assume you can't know that in advance.

Hi Altenbach,

tst is correct - the ratings are apparently reset when Lithium's server is restarted.  The information I see about this issue is that it may be fixed in an future release, but I don't know when.   I guess time will tell!

Thanks,
Laura
