.zip or .sit (not dog training)

If I try to download the following zip file, IE want to download it as *.sit. Is there an explanation?

I get the same thing.  Properties show .sit.

Maybe the real name is .sit and it is displayed as zip???  😉

Interesting.  I downloaded it.  Double clicked on it with the .sit extension to see if windows or Winzip would open it.  Windows came up with an IE box saying "Microsoft Application Search"  (which I had never seen this before.)

Address was http://shell.windows.com/fileassoc/0409/xml/redir.asp?Ext=sit  It showed this:

File Type: Aladdin Systems StuffIt Archieve

File Extension: .sit

Description: StuffIt files contain one or more files that have been compressed and packaged into an archive file.

Which I had never heard of before either.  (by the way, I like the misspelling of Archive)!

Stuffit is a common Mac archiver (or it used to be way back in the dark ages when I used Macs).  I will contact our web team to try to find out what is going on.

It must be some conspiracy from the Mac guys. I would not be surprised if Urs or Scott have something to do with all this! 😄
