Can't ad compact fieldpoint to a project. Targets and devices button is missing

Hello,

I am using Labview 8.5 evaluation and a compact fieldfoint. I can see the fieldpoint in measurement and automation explorer and i can see the measured values comming form the different modules, so this works fine i gues.

The problems start when i want to use the fieldpoint. I can't ad it to my project!!. Normally you right click on the project and then you see the buttons new and targets and devices. In my case i can only see the button new, there is no button Targets And Devices. How could i solve this problem??

Thank you for your forum post. Bad to hear about the problems wit fieldpoint. Can you look which fieldpoint driver you are using? You are able to find this in the Measurement and Automation eXplorer (MAX) under software. Its possible that your version isn't compatible with Labview. Please find the latest driver under this link.

I know that our evaluation software loses functionality after a while, so how long is your trial running at this moment?

Please let me know if the new fieldpoint software doesn't work.

Thanks for your reply, the problem is solved. The driver i installed supported labview until 8.2 so it didn't support the 8.5 i was using. I downloaded the newest driver and now it works fine. Thanks for you help!

I kinda have the same problem. I use a NI SmartCam 1742 and I need to compile a VI in a project to be able to run it on the camera. However I also need the Targets and Devices button in the project window, do I need to install something special? The camera is accessed via TCP/IP. For this application I use LV 8.5, because, that is the only version these cameras support.

Dear Simon,

Thank you so much for your post; please start a new thread when posting a new question. You need the vision acquisition software and the Labview Realtime module to do this. You need to install the same vesions of the software on your Smartcame (you need to install the correct server through the measurement and automation explorer (MAX)). You are able to find the smart cam under remote targets.

When the camera is ok; you are able to add the target to your project (rightclick project name new => target and devices). Please let me know if you have any further questions.
