How do I use a fieldpoint AI-110 in Labview?

I am trying to use an FP-AI-110 in Labview 7.1 and can't seem to get any readings.  I have configured the FP-1000 and the AI-110 in measurements and automation explorer with NI-Fieldpoint 4.1.  I have used the Fieldpoint express function to set up a reading on channel 0 of the AI-110, but can't get a voltage measurement.  When I execute the vi, nothing happens.  What do I have to do to get LabView to control Fieldpoint?

Nelson,

There are a couple of ways that you can do it, the easiest way is to set up everything in MAX, as you have done. Once all the channels are configured in MAX and saved into the .IAK file then you can reference them from LabVIEW. See if that helps to clear things up, if not feel free to post back with any questions you have.

Another option you could do, which might eventually do, is to embed the LabVIEW executable on the FieldPoint unit, so that the FieldPoint unit can run your code without the use of the development computer.

Good luck with everything.

FP1000 is not RT-enabled, right?  So, GDE's second option of embedding the executable onto the controller won't work.  Unless I am missing something...?

Nelson, are you getting the correct readings in MAX when you monitor your AI channels there?  That would be the first step, to verify your physical conections are all good.

You are correct Khalid, the FP 1000 isn't RT enabled. I wrote the second part forgetting that we were dealing with the FP 1000. So I apologize for the confusion, just ignore the second part of my post dealing with embedding an application.

Thanks for your help guys, I got it working.  I had the settings for the range of voltages/currents set wrong, among a few other settings.  The tutorial showed the rest.

Thanks
