I have a problem in AI100 readings

Hi
I'm trying to test AI100 module in MAX and the test results "successful" for all channels but the readings are totally wrong. I need to understand how the max tests the module before giving the "successful" result.
By wrong reading I meen; reading up to 3V on the channel while it should read in mv.

Best regards

Hello Tareq. Thank you for contacting National Instruments. "Successful" usually means that it is reading a signal and that it's within range. Do you have your signal configured correctly? For channel 0 you should have the positive lead connected 1 and the negative lead to 18. (See page 4 of the manual.) Try a different stable power supply. What happens when you short the inputs? Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day!

Tareq,

A "successful" status on a given channel means that the FieldPoint module has responded to the data request within the timeout period and reported a good channel status. Successful does not necessarily mean that the reading is valid as the system may or may not have a way of knowing if you have wired everything correctly or what the signal level should be. The possible channel status results very by module, but for an FP-AI-100 are "good", "unconfigured", or "out of range". If your channel is in voltage mode (e.g. 0 - 6 VDC), then any measured voltage that is between 0 and 6 Volts will return "successful", if a -1 VDC signal was wired in, the result would be "Out of Range".

With an incorrect reading, there are several things to look at:
1) Do you have the sensor wired correctly?
1A) Use a multimeter to measure the voltage across Vin to Com.
1B) Is the Iin for the same channel wired? It should not be. For example, you can use either Vin0 or Iin0 but not both.
2) Have you damaged the input channel? With the Vin and Iin channel unwired, use a multimeter to measure the input resistance between Iin and Com, it should be 100 Ohms. If it is not, the current input resistor was damaged which will result in both the current and voltage readings being skewed.
3) Is the module scaling properly? It is possible for the NI-FieldPoint software (MAX) to think the channel is configured for one range and for the FP network module to configure the channel for a different range (because the configurations have not been synched). If this is the case, then the channels may be mis-scaled. (Note: This problem is possible on the FP-100X series only).
