Hello Robst,
Compact FieldPoint systems are industrial grade because their rugged
construction provides resistance to shock and vibration, a wide range
of operating temperatures, high electrical immunity and isolation
between modules, and DIN mounting options. The network modules
use the TCP/IP Ethernet communication protocol and require no special
hubs or switches for communication. Configuring several Compact
FieldPoint Network Modules to communicate to each other is identical to
configuring a network of computers. All the modules must be on
the same subnet, the router or hub must be configured properly to allow
network communication, and each node must be assigned a unique IP
address. The network modules use standard Category 5 Ethernet
cables.
Ideally, if the Compact FieldPoint system is operating in an extreme
environment, an Ethernet network cable could be routed to the system
and any hubs or routers could then be kept in a less strenuous
environment. If you needed to keep the router in such an extreme
environment where it would be subject to high shock or extreme
temperatures, you would need to check with the router manufacturer to
determine if it could operate within those specifications.
I hope this helps!
Regards,
Travis G.
