NIMax crashes when installing software to cFP-2020

New CFP-2020, LV 6.1, FP 4.0, ethernet w/crossover. Even though I can assign a new IP, IMAX causes page fault after removing old software. Hmmmm, wonder if the CFP-2020 is bad.......

Hello,

>> "IMAX causes page fault after removing old software."
What do you mean by this? What software are you removing? Do you have a screenshot of this behavior?

Just when Nimax removes the old software automatically before installing the new. Screen shot would be just the good old windows page fault (red X) dialog. By the way, of course I've tried several times to reset to default and start from scratch

Hello,

I am going to need a little more information to help you troubleshoot this issue.

What is the part number of your cFP-2020? This number will should start with a 18, and end with a -01 or -02 (18XXXXX-0X, for example). Is there any kind of error message when the page fault occurs? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling FieldPoint 4.0?

Regards,
Sean C.

No NI error messages.
Did not uninstall/reinstall 4.0, does not have uninstall feature and not in add/remove...
Did put in FP4.1 on one laptop. Oddly, no version change reported in Nimax under software.
Now instead of crashing, NImax just hangs up while downloading.

Thanks for your interest

Hmmmm, removed all the cards and tried again and now I can download and after reinstalling the cards it sees them too, so I guess I'm back in business. Strange.

I had a big problem setting up my cFP2020 to start with. It took about a week working with tech support. Eventually I managed to assign an IP address and download all the software. Yesterday I had to reset the controller and it just lost everything! To get it back I had to shut down and start up and mess about with the DIP switches, remove it from the network and plug it into my machine using a xover cable. Only then could the IP address be re-assigned.

All the while MAX was being very very slow and I though it had crashed a couple of times, although it turned out just to be thinking. Maybe you were seeing some of these issues too. I've heard from more than one person now that the cFP2020 is not a straighforward beast to problem solve!

Hope this sheds some more light.
