Unable to run VI from RT target and unable to format internal flash drive

When trying to run a VI from RT target (FP-2010) the downloading to the RT target fails. It starts oke, but the last part of the progress bar is really slow and in the end gives a message that it fails. Sometimes the message is connection lost and other times the message is failed to download. When I run the VI on the host computer directly it works oke and it communicates correctly with the FP-2010.

On the FP-2010 there are also some unremovable directories named ". yyy Y" but then with dots over the "y"'s. To remove these I tried to reformat the drive but I do not get the option in  MAX 4.0. First I had MAX 3.0 but then upgraded following the tutorial named: "Reformatting the Internal CompactFlash Memory on NI Real-Time Controllers". I comply to all the conditions in this tutorial (boot in safe mode, Safe Mode 10.4 OS installed, etc.) but still have no option in MAX to reformat.

Software Details:
LabVIEW  version 7.0
NI Hardware :
FieldPoint device FP-2010
Operating System:
Windows 2000

It sounds like you are running out of memory on the download.  Have you tried the download
after a cold boot?

From a cold boot, what memory is shown available?  On one of our units, LV->Operate->RT Engine Info
shows ~33MB total memory, ~21MB free memory.

On the files you can't delete, have you tried renaming them first?  Startup.exe in particular has to be
renamed before you can delete it with ftp.  We also got some files stuck in the file system (spaces in
the file name) and wound up just going through several graphical ftp clients until we found one
that would delete them.  Another option to try would be to write a small .vi that just deletes the
unwanted files and run it on the FP controller.

A newer MAX might resolve the format issue.  We use the Fieldpoint4.1 drivers version.

I tried to load your .vi but there were sub-vi files missing.  4.9 MB is big but should at least load,
although I don't know what else loads below it.

Hope something in here helps.

Matt
