I'm trying to set up and test some FieldPoint hardware, and am having difficulty configuring the FieldPoint Explorer.
The hardware is a NI PCI 4-port RS-485 board with one channel connected to a FP-1001 and a AI-110. The first channel of the board is Com5, and there are 120 ohm termination resistors on both the computer and the FP-1001 module.
I'm running NT 4.0 SP6 and installed FieldPoint Explorer 3.0.0 (build 156) with the hardware installed, and powered up.
When I add a Comm Resource and have the software 'Find Devices' it comes back with 'no devices found.' The modules are powered up and the 'ready' LED on the AI-110 is lit. During the search the 'network' LED on the 1001 blinks rapidly, and the 'access' LED blinks on
ce.
The address for the 1001 is currently at 10, but I have tried different address, Com ports, cables, and 1001 modules with the same results.
If I manually 'add a device to this server' so that I have the following:
New Device ==> Type: FP-1001
Address: 10
Watchdog -> current = disable
powerup = enable
pressing 'Reset' button == 'Unknown error on FieldPoint Server'
New Device 2 ==> Type: AI-110
Address: 11
Network Module: New Device @ 10
Pressing 'reset' or 'channel configuration' results with the same 'Unknown Error on FieldPoint Server'
The 'NI Ports' recognizes the RS-485 board, and shows that Com5-8 are configured for 4-wire communication. The Tx+/- on the computer are connected to the Rx+/- on the 1001, and Rx+/- on the computer are connected to the Tx+/- on the 1001.
Does anybody have an idea as to what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks for the help
