I am using two examples from NI to try and get familiar with how to use the 502 and the 522.
(See service req# 427977)
I need to be able to generate a series off TTL pulses to control a device that will step once for each rising edge.
Like wise the device will tell me when it steps via another TTL line that will transition low to high at each step.
So, what I need is a TTL square wave generator that I can use to control the rate at which the device steps and be able to measure the rate at which it is stepping.
Before getting the device invloved, I wanted to convince myself that I could specify the freq of the output from the 522 and
measure it using the 502.
My wiring is as listed below
External +5 volts to "V" of 502
External RTN to "C" of 502
502 "O0" (pin 13) wired to 502 "G0" (pin 9)
502 "Vsup" (pin 17) wired to 522 "Vsup" (pin 17)
502 "COM" (pin 18) wired to 522 "COM" (pin 17)
502 "C1-Vin" (pin 2) wired to 522 "CH0-Vout" (pin 2)
I followed the instructions on the front panels explicitly to configure all the FP stuff. There is one point that I would like to stress. This is an existing system so I did not want to fiddle with the IAK to much. I DID NOT DO a "find all..." I manually added the channel X that was required by the example. I may have gotten this part wrong! I ave included my IAK in the hopes this is where I screwed-up.
When I run these two examples at the same time, I get erratic counts showing up in the display that should be my frequency.
questions;
1) Is this set of hardware appropriate?
2) Should I be using a different example?
It seems as if the counter is counting
durring a small time window and the 522 is sometimes getting a bunch of pulses into this time window.
Looks like I am going to have to break-out a scope to make any sense of this.
Desperate,
Ben
P.S. Genearlly I love this FP stuff. I never had a problem with it that support could not help me with straight off.
