Voltage connection to fieldpoint is higher than nominal voltage

We are currently connecting FieldPoints to 24V and 36V chargers. When we first plug in a battery, we are seeing a plug voltage that is widely higher than the nominal voltage. Is this normal? I believe that this has nothing to do with FieldPoint and that FieldPoint just reads what it sees from the chargers. Or is there a possibility that the FieldPoint is reacting to the plug voltage that it sees from the charger?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi Afern,

What FieldPoint controller are you using?

Is the power supply connected to the FieldPoint controller when you are measuring the voltage?

What voltage do you measure across the power supply?

Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you for responding. We are using FP-1601 10/100Mbps ethernet connected to FP-A1-102. We have a 24V power supply connected to the system. Our software constantly monitors the FieldPoint whenever FieldPoint is on.

We plugged in a 24V battery into a 24V charger and received a voltage of 27.86V. Sometimes it would reach over 28V. other times we would see 24V or 23V. These are different batteries connected to different chargers.

Hi Afern,

The power supply range for the FP-1601 is 12 to 30 VDC.  As long as the voltage is in this range, the FieldPoint unit will function correctly.  Please look at Appendix B of the user manual.
