Wiring the FP-RLY-422

Solved!
Go to solution
I have a question about hooking a power supply to the V and C terminals of the FP-RLY-422. I have a fan that is 120VAC and .9A, in order to get the relay to switch that load, will I need to hook up a AC power supply to the V and C terminals and if so where can I get that power supply from.

As it is right now I am able to take from the V an C terminals of the FP-1601 and hook to the V and C of the Relay Module but the supply coming to the FP-1601 is 24VDC so I am assuming that it has to be a 120VAC in order to power the 120VAC fan unless the relay is able to convert somehow.

Thanks!

Hello,

To confirm: the fan you have requires 120VAC and .9A and is currently not powered at all, is that correct?

If so then you are correct, the supply from the 1601 will not be sufficient. The relay does not convert power at all, you will need an external power supply for your fan. If you look at page 3 of the FP-RLY-422 manual here you can see  that if your total current is less than 5A you may use one power supply connected to the V and C, otherwise if your current is greater than 5A you must use configuration B (one power supply for each channel).

With warm regards,

David D.
