cFP-180X use of serial port

I want to use the serial port found on a cFP-1804 for communication with an instrument
.
Is this possible when I'm communicating with the device using the Ethernet connection through a LabVIEW program.
It would save me an extra Ethernet-RS-232 convertor and hub or wireless serial stuff.
I'm in a situation that the cables are in the ground and that the street is repaved.

The documentation doesn't show this option, but I just wanted to check you experienced Fieldpoint users.
It looks like an obvious option and I used the onboard comport on the cFP2XXX family a number of times before.
This was however on a labVIEW application embedded in the cFP modules.
Is it possible?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no.  It must be because none of the cFP stuff has a VISA server running on it.  It would be a very cool if I could buy a serial port module for my cFP remote I/O.  I once asked if it was possible and was told it was not feasable.  Crushed again! Smiley Sad
