Hi Soup-

That is very interesting; you mentioned that you would have some time to test when your current operation finished.  I would suggest pulling the module that is experiencing the out of range error to see if the remaining channels/modules then read correctly.  Please keep us posted on your results.

I was able to quickly change the range on the one channel that was out of range so that all channels on all modules maintained a status of 'Successful', however I was still receiving zeroes on all my analog modules when requesting all the channels.  And once again when I requested a single channel at a time I received the correct (nonzero) data.

Hi Soup-

I haven't been able to replicate the behavior you're seeing- it certainly seems that some other error may be occurring that is not reported by MAX.  Please try creating a multi-channel I/O point for your channels of interest using the instructions in this KB and let me know if you're able to receive non-zero readings.

I attempted reading multiple channels (Channels 0-6, Channels 0-7, etc.), which worked perfectly well.  So I went back and selected 'All', which finally worked as I had anticipated, reading all the nonzero values from the Express VI and also from the FP Read.vi.  Then I went back into MAX and noticed that 'All' was reading zero in MAX, and yet still reading nonzero values from both the FieldPoint Express VI and the FP Read.vi.  The other item names that read multiple channels, the ones that I had set up, were reading the first value in the list of multiple channels in MAX.  For instance, Channels 0-7, showed the same value as Channel 0.  Then I deleted the multiple channel item names, which I had created in MAX, and attempted to read the 'All' item again from the Express VI as well as FP Read.vi, and both read all zeroes.  Hmmm!

This behaviour is just very strange.  I can obviously work around these problems, but my program would be much more elegant if I could use the 'All' item without having to go into MAX and begin making changes that shouldn't be necessary.

I agree- that behavior is very strange and certainly not the intended operation.  I haven't been able to replicate the problem, but I will forward your information for further testing by our software engineers.  Are you able to test this on another machine/with a different controller?  I have tested with your exact FP setup on multiple machines and haven't seen the behavior you described.

I apologize for the delay, but my time was suddenly needed elsewhere.

As for my continuing dilemma of not being able to read the 'All' item correctly from a FieldPoint analog input module.  I had already previously attempted reading from two different computers and the same FieldPoint hardware to no avail.  So more recently I set up another computer with all different FieldPoint hardware (some different types of modules, as well) and the same problem persisted.  I tried reading the 'All' item from both the FP-AI-110 and FP-TC-120 modules and both recovered an array of zeroes.  And once again when these same modules were read a channel at a time their correct nonzero values were reported.

Hi Soup-

I recently saw this problem corrected by formatting the controller and reinstalling all updated versions of the FieldPoint embedded drivers.  Instructions for performing this operation are available here.  Please give this a try and let me know if you're not able to see better results.

Tom W,

I attempted to format the controller (I needed to update to [c]FP-20xx Safe Mode 10.4 from 10.1 to perform the formatting) and reinstall the software to the FP-2000 controller.  However, I received the following error prior to installing the software ("FieldPoint VI Manager 4.0.0" and its dependent "FieldPoint Drivers 5.1.2") to the FP-2000 from MAX:

"Cannot process install because other dependencies are required:

Base System 2.0

LabVIEW RT 8.0

                Logos 4.6.0"

 

I even uninstalled FieldPoint, LabVIEW and all their drivers, then removed all files from the 'ftp://IP Address of FP-2000 Controller'.  Then I reinstalled with [c]FP-20xx Software Version 7.0 for Windows, LabVIEW 8.0 FDS and FieldPoint 5.0.  And still I get the same error when I attempt to install "FieldPoint VI Manager 4.0.0" and its dependent "FieldPoint Drivers 5.1.2" as noted above.
 
Now I can't communicate at all with the FP-2000 from LabVIEW.

Hi Soup-

Do you have the LabVIEW Real-Time module for Windows?  I assumed you did, but if not then we will need to find another method to reinstall the software to your controller.  I apologize for the confusion on my part-

No I don't have the LabVIEW Real-Time module.  We've just never had the need for it.  So now how will I be able to salvage the FP-2000?
