wireless bridge

Hi all, I have an older FieldPoint  FP-1600 controller with a few modules that works fine over my ethernet.  The problem is that I must now move it to another room without a hardwired ethernet connection.  The room can see the wireless LAN though.  So, I plan to purchase a Wireless Ethernet Bridge to plug into the RJ-45 socket of my FP-1600 to connect via the wirless LAN.  My questions are:  Is it that simple?  Could anyone suggest a good wireless bridge to buy?

Telemaque,

I haven't had personal experience with this myself, but take a look at this forum post I found.  Looks like a standard wireless access point will work just fine.

Justin,
Thanks for letting me know about this post...I did search before asking....honestly.  This answers my questions perfectly.

MaxStream XEB09-C (900 MHz, 125 mW)

We regularly use 'em over 10+ km unimpeded outdoors, and throughout our building indoors with no trouble.

Tops out at 1.5 MB/s data rate, but is plug-n-play and connects directly to RJ-45.  ~$700/pair  (http://www.maxstream.net/products/ )

LAP,
Thanks for the info... $700 sounds a bit too expensive for me.  I should have probably mentioned that I will only be about 40 feet from the WAP, so range is not a problem.  I ordered a "Linksys WGA11B Wireless-B game adapter".  I hope this will do the job of connecting my FieldPoint to the wireless network.

crimolvic,
I'm afraid that I may never know if the WGA11B can work with my FieldPoint system.  I cannot get onto the wireless access point where I am working (a university) and the helpdesk folks are not willing to give me permission.  So, I ran 100 ft. of CAT 6 from the control room to the laboratory instead.  Sorry I couldn't give you anything more helpful.

OK, thankyou anyway, Telemanque.

Does anyone else have used this WGA11B bridge onto any ethernet device other than a game console (e.g. a PXI, a CRio, ...)?

In some forum in the internet I read that the WGA11B works only with game consoles but I am not sure of that is true or not.

I don't know about that adapter, but as was said in the other thread, we use simple Edimax APs and they work fine (and don't cost $700 Smiley Wink ). Presumably, any other standard equipment should work fine - a wi-fi connection replaces the hardware layer but not the software layer of TCP\IP, so there shouldn't be any difference between using a wi-fi network and a LAN (as long as you have everything set up properly).
