Sound pressure meter

Is it possible to have a sound pressure meter? Similar to what you'd have on mixing desk.

Also a way to monitor peak sound pressure would be great. If this was all one thing, even better.

FlexLogger supports a number of different sensor types that can connect to CompactDAQ modules, including bridge-based sensors and voltage and current sensors. If you can give some more details on your pressure sensor, or post a link to something similar, that would help us give an answer!

We are reading an sound pressure with a microphone through a 9250 (BNC). The sensor class is IEPE with a sensitivity of 1.45mV/Pa.

We can easily monitor the microphone as it is, but there's no easy way (that I can see!) to show what it peaked at during the test, except retroactively going back and inspecting the data.

Ideally we could note that number quickly and easily after each short test.

There are two ways you can determine the peak amplitude of a signal during a test that you might try quickly.

  1. Map the signal to a chart. When you hover over the signal plot in the chart, it will show you the min/max peaks within the time range showed on the chart. You can use either a short-term or long-term history chart for this purpose. If you need to view the peak on a shorter time range, you can pause and zoom in.
  2. Meta data: The min/max values of signals are recorded as meta data in the log file. This is the min/max over the range of the log file. You can view these properties in the properties pane in the included TDMS Viewer application.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately that's not quite the solution we are looking for. It will be monitored by a technician with a minimal panel showing a bunch of other things with no real space for a chart, but requiring a peak sound level at a glance.

I'm envisaging something similar to what is attached.

Thanks for the clarification! Is this a local peak? Would an RMS value work here?

Unfortunately an RMS value isn't really what we're looking at. We're looking at the actual peak level.
