5112 Does not show up under NI-DAQmx Device

Solved!

Why doesn't MAX list my 5112 under NI-DAQmx Device but it does show up under PXI system (undefinded)? Also I can interact with the card using the soft panel so I think the device is installed properly.  The main problem is I can't uses this card with my 5600 because MAX reports no digitizer.

You need to identify your chassis in MAX, so it will properly identify the cards.  Do this by right-clicking on the PXI Chassis and selecting Identify as... and then selecting your chassis from the list.  Once the chassis has been identified, MAX should be able to detect your 5112.

Thanks Christina,

I did add that information (both the controller and chassis) after I posted the problem, no change.  I have also tried multiple methods of removing and reinstalling the device/driver.  I was going to try reinstalling NI SCOPE as I have read about problems with that and other digitizer cards.  Are there any properties in the 5112 itself that could be preventing automatic discovery under DAQmx devices?  I am planning to upgrade to a faster controller and change the NI 5112 out for a NI 5142 soon but I was hoping to understand why I am having this problem so as not to repeat it.

The NI 5112 is not a NI-DAQmx device, it actually uses Traditional DAQ, so you'll need to look under Traditional DAQ to find it.  It will have a device name such as DAQ::1 rather than dev1 or PXI1Slot5.

Thanks for both post, I installed the 5142 and everything works fine.  Because the 5112 is a traditional DAQ device does that mean that I would not be able to combine it with a 5600 to form a RFSA?

The 5600 should be paired with a 5142 to form an RFSA.  If you must use the 5112, you could use the 5600 on its own with the RFSA driver in downconvert-only mode.  Then, it would be possible to manually use the NI-Scope driver with the 5112 to read in the data, but this is not recommended.  (It would essentially be the same as using a third party downconverter or digitizer.)

Steve,

The NI 5142 was involved in a recall.  Did you get "Long-Term Fuse Reliability" recall letter from NI?

Several other NI 51xx were involved, but I have not yet heard that the 5112 was affected.

No I did not hear about the recall, I'll check it out.

Thanks
