Hi, Karan.

Unfortunately, there is no instrument driver available for the Tektronix TDS 724A online.  You have a couple of options:

  1. You can email instrument.drivers@ni.com and request an instrument driver for the Tektronix TDS 724A.  Make sure to include the version of LabVIEW that you will be using in the email.  You may get lucky, and the instrument driver team may have one available.
  2. Another option is to create your own instrument driver.  This option is explained more thoroughly in the Developing LabVIEW Plug and Play Instrument Drivers DevZone article.  The Instrument Driver Project Wizard (Tools»Instrumentation»Create Instrument Driver Project) is a very user-friendly tool.

If you have any more questions involving this instrument driver, respond to this post.  Have a great weekend!

Hello Sara,

I have found a driver for TDS724D, any chance it would work for 724A? I am currently setting it up and have not been able to make it work yet, hope someone could tell me whether I'm barking up the wrong oscilloscope.

I was looking into this driver, and you can see on the download page the devices that work with the driver.  It looks like it doesn't support that device, and I didn't find another that does.  You can follow the advice above and request the driver, but it may not happen fast enough for your needs.  You can also use the VISA driver to send commands to the device you have written by referencing the programming manual of the device.

Since the last post has anyone built their own driver or found one that works for this oscilloscope?

Hi Shinga,

Unfortunately there are still no drivers offered from National Instruments for this device.  I recommend that you follow the advice in the above post about emailing  instrument.drivers@ni.com .  Perhaps another customer has created one too!  Good luck!
