Hello all,
I am having some trouble with an input channel on a PXI 5105 digitizer. Channel 1 continuously returns ~-18V (configured for 30V range) even if nothing is attached to the port. The other signals behave as expected for a given input signal and are typically at 0V when disconnected. The device does not ever report any errors in MAX or a the code and passes its self test, but the response is the same. Could this be a symptom of a damaged channel?

Hi Andrew,
Where are you taking these measurements from? In cases of troubleshooting hardware, it's generally a good idea to do it in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) in order to avoid any software mishaps. However, this does sound like a broken channel. Please call in on our support line at 866-ASK-MYNI (866-275-6964) to speak with an engineer and set up an RMA.

Hi Josh,
I first noticed it in the software, but double checked with MAX to confirm. Both result in the same response. I'll see about getting an RMA set up.
Thanks for your help,
Andrew

Hi Elver,
This 9205 is an analog input module. This means that it will not output a pressure directly, rather you will have to read in the voltage that is output by the pressure transducer and translate it to a pressure. The correlation on how to do that can be found in the user manual here. It will also depend if it is a 3 wire or 4 wire transducer. Typically one of the wires is for exciting the transducer, one is for ground, and depending on whether the measurement is RSE or differential, the other wire or 2 wires is used for the measurement.

Sounds like an RMA. You're welcome.
