average N time samples with ni scope soft

The ni scope soft interface is very useful.  I would like to be able to average the frequency plot for N time samples.  Is there a configuration option that enables this?  If not, then is there a vi example that duplicates or embeds the ni scope soft environment?  How would you proceed?  Thanks.

As far as I know, the source code for the soft front panel is not available but all of the functions used to create it are on the NI-Scope palette and there quite a few examples that you can look at to get started. In the example finder, expand the Measurements section of the NI-Scope examples.
