my PC doesn't detect NI PCI-5102

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello Guys,  I got recently an used NI PCI-5102 scope board,
I install it immediately that board in a IBM Netvista PC 6792-24U,
(Computer Details:
Intel Pentium 4 1.8GHz (256KB), 256MB, 40GB 7200RPM IDE HDD,
PCI Desktop (4x4), nVidia Vanta 16MB 4X AGP, 48x CD-ROM,
Intel 10/100 Ethernet, POV, Windows XP SP2)
But I don't know what is wrong with it, because the Windows XP does not
detect the new hardware, even I thought maybe is something wrong
with the BIOS, but no, I update the BIOS with the most recent version and
got the same situation. Is there a step that I'm forgetting?, how can to

know if the board is good (no damaged).

NI support team, Could you tell me what can I do?

Thanks in advance.

Hi IvanB!

There are several steps you can do for troubleshooting:

1.- Try swapping the PCI Slot in the same PC and check if the device manager detects the device as a new PCI Hardware, it wont tell you it is a 5102 cause you need to have NI Scope installed.

2.-If it doesnt work on the same PC, try a different one and check if windows detects it and if it appears on the device manager.

3.- If that doesnt work your best option is to send the board to NI so they can check if its malfunctioning, for Mexico the free number is: 01800010793 for more information.

Hope this helps, another thing is that you can call your provider since its a used one, he should respond in case it doesnt work.

Have a great day!!

Same problem here too. I see a "PCI device" in the hardware manager, but when I go to 'update driver software', I don't see the PCI-5102 in the list of NI hardware. The lowest 5xxx series hardware I see in the list are the PCI-5105 and PCI-5114. I have NiScope 3.6 installed, Win 7 Ultimate x64.

Any ideas?
