5600/5641R example not in working order

The 5600/5641R example is a good concept, but it is not working.

http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/6196

When you try and open the host VI in this example (either example since there are 2 included), you will get an error dialog "Not enough memory to complete this operation".

It is very easy to reproduce.

This was attempted on multiple computers, multiple Windows OS (Win XP, 7/32, 7/64), and multiple versions of LV (2010, 2011).

Also tried mass compileing (various settings) with same error.

After trying to load 1000's of VIs (3k-6k dending on system), it chokes.

NI AE also reproduced the problem and recommended posting here to IF-RIO

Trick to get it open

When the error occurs, you can have it stop loading the host VI (be quick with the mouse to avoid looping on the same memory error), and then finish opening the VI without loading addition subVIs.  You can close the host VI and have it save the 1000s of VIs it has opened until that point.  By repeating this (open, error, stop, open w/o subVIs, close, save all) you can eventually get the host VI open, although everything is in a bad state.  At least you can see and edit the host VI.

I think at this point you might be able to recover the example by recompiling the FPGA VI.

a) Is this memory error in loading the example a LV bug that needs to be addressed?

b) Is there some setting in LV that will allow loading without choking?

c) Is there something wrong with the example VIs?

d) Can someone fix the posted example that that it can be opened by most users (i.e. minus the tricks above)?

The example is needed for users with 5600/564xR systems.

Hello Nemo,

I have attached the example with this post. Its the ni5640r with 5600 Downconverter - ASYNC example just saved in LV 2010. I have tested both sets of examples and fixed any broken wires. I am able to replicated the issue you are seeing on LV 2011 and we are looking into what is causing the "Not Enough Memory to Complete this Operation".

I was successfully able to open it in LV 2009, so then I saved it in LV 2009 and opened it in LV 2010. I will post the other example in a new post.

Hello Nemo,

I have attached the second example. This should work in LV 2010. Please let me know if you run into any issues.

Hi,

I downloaded the example you posted and it still doesn't work. it still said that "Not enough memoery to complete this operation."

I am using Labview 2011 sp1.

Is there anyway I can fix the problem?

Thanks,

Jihoon
