Hello @all,
I would like to use a NI Profinet Slave C Series module or alternatively an module from Comsoft to communicate with a Siemens Simatic S7.
Could someone tell me something about the possibilities they can communicate via profinet? Is there only the way over an opc-server or are there other possibilities.
I know that i need a GSD-file for the NI profinet module. Where can I find that?
Thanks in advance for answers!

Hi teutopixx,
Could you post the manual for the Siemens Simatic S7? If it can communicate via PROFINET you should be able to communicate with the PROFINET slave. With regards to other communications, depending on your PLC, you can communicate with it via OPC Servers and the NI DSC module. Additionally, you may be able to use Modbus. Please take a look at these three white papers for additional information:
Connect LabVIEW to Any PLC With Modbus
Connect LabVIEW to Any PLC Using OPC
NI Connectivity to Industrial Communications
The GSD file is included in the driver.
Please let me know if this helps!

Hi teutopixx,
It looks like the Simatic S7-300 CPU, it can only be used as a PROFINET Slave. The cRIO C Series device is also a PROFINET Slave. In order for communication, we need a PROFINET master. What is the end goal for this application? Is it to communicate via PROFINET, or is it to communicate to the cRIO with the Simatic S7-300 CPU? Here is some more information about using the Simatic S7-300 CPU.
Thanks!
