Hello,
Recently I am searching for different HW solutions to be able to operate 4 pneumatic control valves (normally closed). These valves are from Swagelok, and this company also has the following Control Module (max 6 valves can be operated): http://www.swagelok.com/downloads/webcatalogs/EN/MS-02-435.PDF
The problem is that, the interface is DeviceNet. I do not have any experience with such industrial protocols, also, I would like to avoid buying an expensive CAN/DeviceNet interface. In our application we would like to use a laptop, so no option for PCI (neither we want PXI, cRIO things...).
So I would like to ask for some advice. Our available HW recently: laptop with RS232/USB ports and also we have a cDAQ-9174 chassis with one slot still free. Is anyone aware of an easy solution (for example a valve control module with RS232) how to operate these 4 pneumatic valves from LabVIEW in this case?

What is the specifications of the valves? It is easier to go from this than to go from the controller.

Hello,
Pls find the model sheet attached in pdf. Page 8-9 for the pneumatic valves. 1 of the 4 valves will be in a position which will have temperatures up to 400-450°C.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Best Regards,

We just had to revise the requirements for the experimental rig: we only need a single pneumatic valve now. I think I will try to ask Festo to get something useful as interface between the laptop and the pneumatic valve...But still, if anyone has some good solution in mind...? I am not familiar with such systems, so happy to learn 🙂
