Hello,

I, Bejoy Jacob ,working as a Testing Engineer and presently working on a project in Saudi Arabia based on your Relay P127 would like to clarify some quires  on the communication by remote commands on the relay.

As I have joined new into the company – I don’t have a company email Id- so I will be sending through my personal mail.

Recently  I have connected the P127 (AA0F112BB V11-B) having serial no. 44084665 to a SCADA  (I-Fix –GE Fanuc)through the RS232/RS485 converter and was able to retrieve all the data’s from the relay but I was  trying to write data on 0400 register  by using writing function code F9 i.e. By using addressing format 401025. But with this I am not able to write data.  I wanted to know if  what I have given in the relay setting  is all enough to write data from SCADA to the relay.

I am trying to write 0 and 1’s to the address  401025 and there after checking if the status for the output relay has activated. I will be brief in my explanation below:

In the relay setting  I have activated:

AUTOMATIC CONTROLS –TRIP COMMANDS  - TRIP(Part 1) ----------Ctrl Trip

AUTOMATIC CONTROLS –OUTPUT RELAYS – TRIP------------- OUTPUT 2

AUTOMATIC CONTROLS –OUTPUT RELAYS –CB CLOSE & SOFT ------------------OUTPUT 3

AUTOMATIC CONTROLS –OUTPUT RELAYS – CTRL TRIP AND CLOSE –(CTRL TRIP –OUTPUT 2) AND –(CTRL CLOSE –OUTPUT 3)

Hope these are the only parameters that I will have to set? If there is anything else that I have to activate in the relay kindly do inform.

Now at the SCADA  side I have  taken

300020:1 ---- to view the status of RL2 output relay when a trip command is given by SCADA (0013 (HEXA) Output relays operation command – Bit - 1 )

300020:2----- to view the status of RL3 output relay when a close command is given by SCADA(0013 (HEXA) Output relays operation command – Bit - 2 )

401025:3 ------(400-- Address(hex) Remote control word and Function code ----F9 ---Bit 3: remote tripping (CONTROL trip)) As per the manual.

401025:4 ------(400-- Address(hex) Remote control word and Function code ----F9 ---Bit 4: remote closing (CONTROL close))

Now if my understanding is right – if is give a “1” to the write address 401025:3 of SCADA – it will write 1 into the P127 relay and pick the RL2 output relay  and in case the relay output RL2 is wired to the  tripping coil of the breaker- it gives a trip command  and trips the breaker.

if is give a “1” to the write address 401025:4 of SCADA – it will write 1 into the P127 relay and pick the RL3 output relay and in case the relay output RL3 is wired to the  closing coil of the breaker- it gives a close command and closes the breaker.

Hope this is how it works. Kindly do inform if this is not the right idea.

As of now  I have tried writing as per the above method but I have not seen any changes happening in the relay output status.

Kindly do look into this matter as I have a deadline for finishing this task and have been working on this for the past 3 days with no results.

Thanking You,

Bejoy Jacob,

Testing Engineer,

Hello Bejoy,

After reading through your post, I believe that you may need to contact the company that makes the hardware that you are using. National Instruments does not make relays or PLCs, we only sell the software (LabVIEW) to facilitate communication. Your questions appear to center on syntax and the commands needed to communicate with a particular device. I recommend that you contact the manufacturer.
