488.2 driver support for RedHat EL 5?

I'm in the processes of upgrading to RHEL5, but am unable to install GPIB drivers.  I get an error stating that I need kernel-source rpm for my kernel number (2.6.18-8.1.3.el5), however I've learned that kernel-source rpm's are no longer used or available in EL5.  Is there a work around, or is NI planning on supporting EL5 anytime soon?  I'd prefer to not have to back down to EL4 now, if at all possible; this is the last step in having a fully operational system.

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

I'm quite confident that you could make the GPIB driver work on RHEL5 by reading the threads about Fedora Core 6 in this forum and in the  Multifunction DAQ forum. Fedora Core 6 and RHEL5 shares many things.

The error message that you get when you try to install the 488.2 driver on FC6 could make you believe that you have not installed the necessary kernel devel packages but the error printout is a little bit missleading. As I sad above, look at the discussions regarding FC6 and you will probably find a quite easy fix.

Good luck!

As JHn mentioned you really just need the kernel-devel package.  Once you have that installed, download and install the latest version of NI-KAL (currently 1.5).  Then install NI-488.2.
