All my devices appear in MAX, but not in the Instrument I/O box in Labview. Typing the alias in directly doesn't work. What's going on?

I am using:

USB-8473

USB-9201

USB-GPIB with three instruments

Power supply over serial

I originally was using an Agilent GPIB controller, and when I switched to the NI GPIB controller, the devices would appear in MAX but nothing would work. Reading the forums, I found a suggestion to delete Visaconf.ini, which worked.

Now I am using the same GUI and same hardware on another computer, and I implemented the same fix (delte visaconf.ini and let MAX recreate it, yes I entered in and saved the aliases again, and yes they appear in MAX) but the "Select your instrument" dropdown box in my labview GUI is blank, whereas it would usually list all the devices that MAX sees.

I can talk to all the instruments in MAX, and they do pass their self-tests.

Help?

Hi DinoS,

Would you mind describing what you mean by the "Select your Instrument"drop down box?  Perhaps with a screenshot.  Also, what version of LabVIEW are you using and what versions of the drivers (DAQmx, 488.2,CAN, etc)?

I'm referring to the VISA session selection box where you select a VISA alias to control an instrument with. COM1, LPT, GPIB0... etc.

Labview 9.0f3, latest versions of MAX and VISA etc.

Turns out I was able to fix it by going into MAX and deleting all the VISA aliases.
