Analog Device 6B Module communications

I am upgrading an older system that uses 6B A/Ds communicating on RS-485 via ISA slot cards. I want to keep the 6B modules and go to a laptop plus keep my Labview program unchanged. I have tried the ENET RS-485 (4 comm ports) and I get time out errors. I have to increase my time out limits to get it to work which makes my DAQ system too slow.

I have also tried the PCMCIA cards and this works ok for 2 ports but the performance declines with 4 ports (2 PCMCIA cards).

Any thoughts on why the ENET RE-485 is not working. I would think that the ethernet communication speed would be faster. I am running the RS-485 at 19.2KB.

Any thoughts.

Have you tried PINGing the ENET RS-485 from your develpment PC to verify the response time of the ethernet network?  Any chance firewall is slowing things down?
