Can I automate a test or profile using LabWindows?

Hi,

I have been searching the forums and I haven't found the answer directly for what I am looking for.  Is it possible to automate a test, or run tests from a profile, in LabWindows?  If so, would it be just writing some code to perform that, or would other programs need to be involved, besides just LabWindows?  I am completely new to LabWindows and this would help me out a lot...Sorry if this is already in the forums somewhere else...

Hi Michael,

I don't think I fully understand what you are looking for.  Are you wanting LabWindows/CVI to programmatically start another executable?  Or are you wanting to automatically start an executable that was created in CVI?  Also, when you ask about profile are you talking about the windows user login?  If you can respond back with some more detail on what you are wanting to do, I will be able to help you out more.

Hello,

I actually talked to a NI representative in my area and he helped me, but I will explain for futher verification.  What I want to be able to do is run a test with out a user having to constantly change the input during the test.  For example, I want the resistance to ramp up automatically at a given time period.  I now know that LabWindows does have that capability, if I am able to code it into my set-up.  If the task gets too large, the representative suggested that I move towards TestStand which would greatly decrease the time spent on updating and creating these test profiles.  Although that sounds good, the small applications that I am applying this to seems to small for purchasing TestStand.  Thank you for your help.
