Can I use an NI PCI-GPIB IEEE 488.2 card in place of an HP 82350A card.  I want to configure a 5890 II to a Windows 2000 PC with Chemstation B02.01 software.  Sorry - posted two places.

Yes, you should be able to. Both cards are GPIB controllers. Just make sure you install the NI-488 driver for your operating system.

Well, you probably can if the software is using the VISA api for instrument control. If it uses low level GPIB code for the Agilent controller, you can't. You should really be asking Agilent. Isn't Chemstation their software?

I'm not sure marking my response as the solution was the right thing to do in this case. I completely missed the part about the Chemstation, and Dennis raised a good point. If the software was written to specifically use the Agilent GPIB card using low-level GPIB calls then the NI card won't work.
