Can't install hardware

I have a NI PCI-GPIB/+ that I am trying to install on my windows xp computer. I have IEEE 488.2 software. Every time I try to install the PCI card, the computer recognizes that there is a card, and the software verifies that there is a IEEE 488.2 software presence, a GPIB hardware presence, but it can not sequentially verify GPIB interfaces. I am not really sure what that means. The software just tells me that it is an unknown error. I am thouroughly confused.

Hello,

Generally this error is caused by a software conflict although sometimes hardware comes into it as well. First of all, can you tell me what operating system and version of 488.2 you are using? If you are using a modern Windows OS, go ahead and give the latest version of 488.2 which is 2.2. You can find it here:

Since you are having this problem, go ahead and uninstall your current version of 488.2 and then power down your system and remove the 488.2 card. Power up your system, install this version 2.2 download and then power down your system again and reinsert your card. This will ensure that we remove all resident software and replace it w
ith the newest version. If you are still having problems, post here and we'll get it figured out.

Questions I'd like answered if we need to continue:
1) Operating System?
2) 488.2 Driver version?
3) Is this a new card or could it possibly be a bad one?
4) Anything else that happens during the above process.

Thanks,
