Clear explanation of Channel Name on IVI Drivers

Hello,

I am using Labview 8.0 evaluation to write a program that will incorporate an Xantrex XDL 35-5P DC Power Supply to automate a test. It has only one output.

I have installed the XDL drivers and the IVI Compliance Package. However, I am still struggling with the "channel name" on the IVI Drivers.

Can someone please clearly explain to me what the channel name is, why I need one, and what I need to put in as my channel name to get my program working?

Yea, I read that discussion, but it didn't clarify exactly what a channel name was, especially considering I had one output/one "channel".

I went back to my program and just to give it a shot, I typed in a numeric 1 in the channel name, and it worked.

I still don't know what it is, but at least it'll communicate now.
