ComPort

Just wonder if any one can help me with the Serial Port issues. What would i need to do to port my LabView executable file to none LabView platform, this executable will be interfacing with COM1 or COM2? I've tried installing the NI VISA4.5 & LabView runtime engine but that didn't help. I believe i need a license file to activate the VISA driver. Is there any fee to obtain a license key from NI? Please help...................

Thanks,

No, there are no fees or any activation required. What error code do you get? Are the ports listed in MAX?

Dennis,

Thanks for response to this request. There is no errors at all and this application works fine under LabView Platform. By the way i don't see the MAX after installing the NI VISA4.5 and LabView runtime engine. How can i get the MAX? would this come along with the NI VISA4.5? I've checked COM1&COM2 under device manager and don't see any issues with them. Am i missing something very simple? I got a feeling that i need the MAX utility.

Thanks again Dennis

You'll get MAX if you selected it when you created your installer. Have you tried using the canonical names (i.e. ASRL1::INSTR) instead of the aliases?

Dennis,

You means the MAX come along when i create the installer from the LabView, or when i'm installing the NI VISA4.5?

After creating the exe, you should create an installer. If you did not do this, you would have MAX only if you installed the full version of VISA and not the runtime version.
