Hi MAK,
Thanks for contacting National Instruments.
You should have no problem seeing your power supply from Measurement and Automation Explorer if you are using an NI GPIB board. This is a separate utility from Test & Measurement explorer, but it can be downloaded for free if you dont currently have it.
To get Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), install the latest version of the NI 488.2 driver, available at http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/webcategories/85256410006C055586256BB9002C14EF?opendocument&node=132060_US.
Installing this driver, which is the latest GPIB hardware driver, will automatically install the current version MAX, 3.0.1, as well. MAX lets you view all the instruments on the bus. The reasons you wouldnt be able to see the in
strument with MAX is 1) if there was a problem with the instrument, 2) if there was a problem with the GPIB board or cables, or 3) if there was an address conflict, e.g. two instruments set to the same primary address.
MAX is a much newer utility and makes querying the instrument very simple. Just right-click on the instrument as it appears in MAX (under Devices and Interfaces >> GPIBx) and select Communicate with Instrument.
