Connecting a BNC from an Isometric Force Transducer to the USB-6008

Solved!
Go to solution

I've got an isometric force transducer with a BNC jack: http://www.radnoti.com/products/force_transducers

I want to connect it to the USB-6008 but I don't have any EE experience. I found on a similar forum that I can cut strip the BNC cord and attach the postive lead to the AI0 (AI0+) and the AI4 (AI0-).

http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/How-connect-NI-USB-6008-to-BNC-out-on-Transonic-T110-w-t-ground/td-p...

Would this apply for my device?

Thanks!

Yes, I think that would work.

As was pointed out in a later post in that same thread, you can buy adapters so that you do not need to cut up  a cable.  You may also be able to buy a cable with a connector on one end only.

I would but all the links are outdated. If you had any idea on where to get one I would be grateful.

Try Digi-Key and then search for "BNC cable assembly". Click on the "Coaxial Cables (RF)" link. Then under Style select "BNC to Cable". Click on the "Apply Filters" button. This leads me to 6 cables differing in length and cable style. Note that they are marked as "Non-Stock." This is because they actually install the connector on the cable after they receive an order.   This is a service which many distributors provide and it usually only takes one day.

Thanks, I think I found one: http://www.alliedelec.com/search/productdetail.aspx?SKU=70188666

If those clippers don't fit I was just going to strip the wires and attach it myself.
