Controllable clamps

I am looking for a way to close 2 rubber tubes to prevent the release of gas in a LabVIEW controlled experiment. Does anyone know of any electronic clamps or other hardware of that type that can be controlled from a VI?

For gas there are multiple types of solenoid drives valves on the market. FESTO is one of many companies that have these in their program. For gas and medical stuff DRAEGER might have a solution.

What types of outputs and power do you want to use, are available?

How robust / reliable must the solution be?

Timing?

Costs?

A DIY solution? (RC servos, springs with solenoid driver?? )
