Device Detection

I am using the NI measurement and automation software to communicate with my instrument which uses a tnt4882 gpib asic. When I use the software to scan for instruments on the gpib bus what signals should the TNT be looking for and what signals does it need to respond with in order for the CIC to detect the instrument.

The Measurement and Automation Explorer searches for the listeners on the bus. Then, it sends a "*idn?" to each device in order for the device to identify itself. A LOT can go wrong with the ASIC.

Chapter Four of the "TNT4882 Programmer's Reference" (available at ni.com/manuals) goes through a step-by-step instruction of what needs to occur and why. This is the best place to start writing and verifying the control software for this chip.
