Digital I/O respond "Syntax error" to *IDN?

Hello.
We have a LabVIEW based test fixture that uses VXIbus mainframe and stack with different instruments like Relay module, Digital I/O, Scope, Multimeter, and more.
The whole system have been developed years ago, and was working fine until some present time.
Now we have some weird problem that Tektronix VX4802 Digital I/O board start to respond with Error 02 "SYNTAX ERROR" to some commands that it was accomplish correctly before. One of this commands is "*IDN?", whish seems to be the most generic whish all instruments suppose to support.
I though the problem is with the Digital I/O module, and I did find different one, replaced it and problem stays. I though its a damaged unit, found another one, but problem stays.
Also, I have found that if "R" or "RST" command used the unit gets out from ERR mode and can do some more of its functionality.
However, after using it with reset like that same instrument started to go in "SYNTAX ERROR" mode with additional set of commands.
By the way, self test command "S" is getting done without any issues. Also, using "*IDN?" on any other instruments in the same mainframe resounds with correct info.
Does anyone have any idea of how to troubleshoot such issue, and where to look? Is it issue with Digital I/O board or, passably, mainframe?

Thank you and Best Regards

Hi

Contact problems on the connector? Or a rusty contact?

Hi Albert. Thanks for replying.
Unfortunately, it does not help. I did check all of the contacts of the connector on the back of the unit. All looks good.
I did move instrument into different slot, nothing helps, it is giving me same problems as before.

Regards.

If not hardware, it probably is software. Somewhere a bit is wrong. Did you try to repair the driver software?

Hi Albert.
Thanks for reply.
No, I did not do anything with software/driver. Honestly, I am not sure how to do it.
If you can tell me how to do it, or where can I find documentation.
And about your second post; yes I did try three different I/O modules that I have found online, used.
All of them behave exactly same.

Regards

What are the front panel indicator lights showing?

I don't think that equipment accepts the IDN command.

Below is a link to the manual, power up self tests described on pg 89.

Here is the image of lights in "Syntax Error".
And yes, I was studying that document a lot, and it is not talking about IDN command.
The issue here is not with IDN command, issue is that it's not responding correctly to the code it used to work with while doing power up self-test without a problem. Further more, if I initiate the self-test with a command "S" it will me done without any issue.

I know nothing about VXI, but can you swap the location of this module with another one in the chassis?

Wondering if the slot it plugs into has an issue.

Are all the other instruments in the system executing their commands properly?

Done it yesterday, no difference.

Basically, in VXI slots are all same except slot 0, which is dedicated to be used by main computer interface MXIbus module. Rest of the modules are located by logical address, that is being preset by some kind of switches on the back of each module.

Like I said, I did change a placement slot in the system while keeping logical address. The module is getting recognized with MAX app and LabVIEW is able to communicate with is no mater which slot it is in. Same with the rest of instruments.
The problem still the same, the Digital I/O module is getting into "Syntax Error"...
