https://www.ni.com/en-us/shop/model/usb-232-4.html this is my niusb rs232/4 box, pretty sure it is broken, can I just replace it with this:

I only use one port on it anyway.

Hi LabVIEW212,
The cable you're considering isn't one I'm very familiar with. Here are the specs for the box you're trying to replace- if I were in your situation, I would reach out to the company that makes the new cable (it looks like it's Sabrent), and see what they say about the compatibility.
Good luck!

I use USB to Serial adaptors all the time with no issues.
BUT I do recommend getting an actual FTDI USB to Serial adaptor, not some cheap Chinese knock-off. Cheap ones have been shown to contain counterfeit chipsets and will cause you nothing but problems.
FTDI cables are available from Digi-Key for as little as $15 https://www.digikey.com/product-search/en/cable-assemblies/smart-cables/1574108?k=FTDI
