Errors caused from upgrading NI-488.2 to version 2.8 or newer

Errors with ibrrd & ibwrt functions after installing new NI-488 software. Going from V2.4 to 2.8.0 or even the new 3.0.2.

The program is a simple VB6 program that reads a hp dmm and writes to a voltage source.

System is a 32b Win XP using NI PCI-GPIB plug-in 488 card.

What sort of errors?

Here is listing from NI trace(Spy) below.

I now can see the problem using only NI software and hardware (no VB6 program).

Using only NI's communicator, I send a Query. The error in the response is when there are two - - sign characters before the value (in Yellow).

I do not get this with Ver 2.4 of the NI 488.2 drivers.

Has some default setting changed in the newer versions?

The DMM is HP3458A

I haven't seen that before. Odd. But I haven't used NI-488 functions in quite some time in my test programs.

Have you tried using Interactive VISA applet?
