I'm guessing one of these
But which? That would be useful information needed to point you to the right area of the manual you need to read, Of course, Laurel Electronics should know this off the top of their heads but, since they are being so unhelpful with their Customer Support, I will RTFM for you.
Unless I am mistaken he has the one with just the Ethernet interface. Digital Interface #7.
It is very clear that they are not offering any support for the Ethernet interface other than offering their software.
Yes, he does and yes the support is rather clear.
I believe the OP has come to a simillar conclusion that I would recommend,
Dump the devise and order something that works.
(Possibly even "Consider orther supliers for this type of device in the future"
It is really <Explicitive Self-Censored> when the support team is too <E.S-C> or poorly trained, too make a valuable feature for a simple device and relies on some Text-Weenie code hack to use the poorly considered code base

It's a $360 counter. I am not sure he's going to be able to find a LXI-compliant counter at that price.

I was hoping it was a lot easier answer than what it appears to be, and there just isn't enough information available for me to work through this in a reasonable amount of time, so in lieu of someone coming forward with having already done something similar, I'm going to push buying the serial module to replace the Ethernet module, otherwise I'll be stuck with prompting for manual entry... I don't get to pick the hardware.
Thank you for your replies though.

It appears whoever bought the hardware just "assumed" that having the Ethernet interface would make it "easier" to program. He did not fully understand and apparently did not bother to read the documentation that is on the manufacturer's website. He should have asked before buying if there is any question about the feasibility of the purchase.
