GPIB ENET/1000 Flash in 2 long 8 short

Hi NI team,

I am trying to integrate the GPIB ENET/1000 into my system which already using GPIB ENET/100 previously.

After establish the socket connection to ENET/1000 unit, my software sends command with operator 0x07, argument 0, and board configuration (flags, PAD, SAD, etc), the ENET/1000 unit immediately show 2-long and 8-short red flashing on the READY LED. As I did not connect to any GPIB device, only the POWER is ON and ACT/LINK LED is blinking (or ON sometime).

Please help on this. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks.

With warm regards,

Ryan Chong

You mention establishing the socket connection with the GPIB-ENET/1000. Are you communicating with the GPIB-ENET/1000 directly through sockets, or are you going through the NI-488.2 driver?

It is a direct socket connection through software. This software is used to communicate with GPIB ENET/100. We are trying to migrate to GPIB ENET/1000 now.

I was able to reproduce the problem you reported. The problem is due to the GPIB-ENET/100 protocol being used with a GPIB-ENET/1000, as they are not completely compatible. I have recorded these issues so that the fatal error can be resolved in a future firmware update, but the command you are sending will still not work properly.

I see your older post about using this with the PharLap TNT Real-Time DOS Extender. Is this the application you are currently working with? Are you using ESP-488, as mentioned in the other post, or did you develop your own communication mechanism for the GPIB-ENET/100?

Thanks for the support. Currently I am using the ESP-488 protocol. I do understand that the ESP-488 is not fully compatible with the ENET/1000 unit. I would like to seek help from your team to over come the issue I face.

As we could see in the MAX interactive tool, it still use the IB function to control the ENET/1000. So, it should not be so much different betweent the command used to control the ENET/100 and ENET/1000. I am trying to minimize the changes necessary to migrate from ENET/100 to ENET/1000. Hope this could be understandable.

Thanks.

Unfortunately there isn't currently a version of ESP-488 that works with the GPIB-ENET/1000. If you have a sales representative you work with on your purchases, it may be worthwhile to contact them to discuss your needs for updated support.
