Hi,
I have installed a GPIB-USB-B device to control a Quantum composer.
At the moment I am unable tlak to my instrument at all.
The first issue seems to be that I cannot see the GPIB as an interface in MAX?
Should I?
Thanks,
Dan

Nothing appears in MAX but it does appear in Device manager as an NI instrument.
Thanks,

Hi Dans,
I'm Jamie, an Applications Engineer at NI.
Can you confirm what versions of Windows, NI VISA, NI 488.2 and LabVIEW that are installed on your machine. It may be worth uninstalling the NI VISA and NI 488.2 drivers and installing the latest versions from our site. A table indicating what 488.2 drivers to use with each version of LabVIEW is available here.
Kind Regards

Thanks for your reply.
I have Labview 2011.
I don't have the machine with me at the moment but I downloaded the latest VISA and 488.2 when building the machine last week. So it should all be right up to date.
Thanks,
Dan

I did manage to control the instrument using VISA interactive in the end. I was then able to use Labview to.
But the interface still doesn't appear in MAX.
It seems similar to this post here but the issue was not really resolved there either.
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,
There is a chance that your MAX database is corrupt, this can be caused by Windows abruptly shutting down hence your GPIB-USB-B is not present under "Devices and Interfaces".
MAX keeps a backup copy of a working database that you can restore, if you are using MAX version 5.0 there is a new reset configuration data utility. This option will allow you to reset MAX configuration back to default. The tool is located under Tools » Reset Configuration Data.
If you are using an older version of MAX follow the steps in the KnowledgeBase article available here to restore the MAX database.
Hope this helps Dan, let me know how you get on.
Thanks
