GPIB-USB-HS controller worked and now isn't recognized when it is plugged in.

I've been using a GPIB-USB-HS controller to run a device connected to a windows XP laptop running LabView 8.0. No problems for a few months. Today when the laptop booted up, it finds an unknown USB device and asks for a CD to search for drivers. No driver can be found. The ready light is not on in the controller so I assume it isn't communicating properly. This is odd behavior considering it worked fine before. I tried removing NI-488.2 2.40 and reinstalling it, then plugging the controller in again. Still, the problem persists. What went wrong and how do I fix it? Thanks.

Hi Alex,
Did anything change with the computer before you started seeing this problem? Do you have a different USB port or a different computer that you can try to connect this device to? If so, give that a shot and see if it works. Also, if you connect it only after the computer is done starting up completely, do you still get this error?  It's odd that the ready light does not come on, but try the above suggestions and see what happens.

Thanks.
