GPIB: allspoll duration

Hello

We have a problem with the duration of the GPIB "AllSpoll" function in some specific hardware combination:

  • A new (HP-Compaq) PC + NI-488.2 V2.3 + PCI-GPIB      -->  AllSpoll duration ~ 60 ms
  • same PC                         + same driver    + PCIe-GPIB    -->  AllSpoll duration ~ 60 ms

In contrast

  • same PC                         + same driver    + GPIB-USB-B  -->  AllSpoll duration ~ 16 ms
  • A new (No Name)     PC  + same driver    + PCIe-GPIB      -->  AllSpoll duration ~ 16 ms
All test ware done with the identical GPIB device(and WinXP pro SP2).

All older systems(about 100) with different combinations of PCs, GPIB interfaces, operating system, driver versions and our specific GPIB device and our software the "AllSpoll" duration was as about 16ms too.

Has any one an explanation for this behavior, or any solution?

thanks

Babak

Thanks for the answer.

In deed this Problem is solved.

But I am not realy glad about this solution, because we have to test our SW and HW very hard with V2.4 before we can release it internaly.

Well, you could use version 2.2. The performance issue was introduced in version 2.3 and was subsequently fixed in version 2.4.

The last version we had used in production was 1.7.  We changed because of the PCIe and the USB adapters, to the (at that time) current version 2.3. Though 2.2 has the same issue as 2.4.

I think we will to test 2.4. Are there any known Bugs in this versionSmiley Mad?

Thanks
